Pair of French Giltwood Armchairs

A distinguished pair of French giltwood armchairs dating from circa 1890, retaining their original hand-worked tapestry upholstery. Richly decorated, the floral tapestry backs and seats feature beautifully faded tones of pink, ivory, and sage that complement the warm patina of the gilded frames.

The chairs feature finely carved giltwood detailing throughout, including fluted supports, finials, scrolling arms, and classical ornamentation inspired by the Louis XVI revival style popular in late 19th-century France. Their untouched condition and original upholstery lend an authenticity and charm that is increasingly difficult to find.

Both decorative and functional, these elegant armchairs would make a striking addition to a drawing room, bedroom, library, or entrance hall, bringing a sense of French refinement and timeless sophistication to any interior.
