The finest quality hand painted enameled porcelain lidded jar.  It could either be a biscuit barrel or Icebox, depending on requirements. Both the silver and porcelain are in immaculate condition with the mildest age-related blemishes that are too superficial to note. The hand-painted floral spray has an outstanding Deep Royal Blue background which reflects splendidly in the highly polished and engraved Silver Footed Stand which also features a finely pierced border to keep the canister supported in the center.  Certainly one of the finest of its type, circa 1880.
