Rare Antique 15 Piece Toy Teaset by Ridgway, "Humphrey's Clock", Scenes from Charles Dickens' "Old Curiosity Shop", Blue and White
 It is very unusual to find a toy teaset of this quality and age especially in such good condition, there are repairs to two of the saucers otherwise very tidy.

Ridgway & Co. first introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s decorated with scenes from Charles Dickens' stories, taken from "Master Humphrey's Clock", the weekly periodical edited and written entirely by Dickens, published from April 1840 to December 1841. The company later reintroduced the patterns for toy teasets and dinner services in 1895 and produced them until around 1902 or later. This prettily moulded teaset shows a series of views from Dickens novel "The Old Curiosity Shop" and is in very good condition for its age. a couple of sealed hairlines.

The set comprises: 1 Teapot with Lid 5" (12.7cm) high to top of lid, 6" (15.2cm) wide from lip to handle 1 Sugar Bowl 2" (5.1cm) high x 3" (7.6cm) top dia 1 Milk Jug 2" (5.1cm) high, 4" (10.2cm) wide from lip to handle 4 Cups 1.75" (4.4cm) high x 2.25" (5.7cm) top dia 4 Saucers 4.1" (10.4cm) dia 4 Plates 4.5" (11.4cm) dia While the set could still be used by a child, it would sit very happily on display with any collection of blue and white antique china.
